About Bristlenose (Common)
The common Bristlenose (Ancistrus sp.) is a small, hardy algae-eating catfish — not a Lake Tanganyika native, but a popular and easy-going tankmate for a Tanganyikan community, helping keep algae in check. Undemanding on water chemistry and generally ignored by even semi-aggressive cichlids thanks to its armoured body and bottom-dwelling habits. Provide driftwood for it to graze on alongside a varied diet.
